And way to plant a knife into my heart and then twist it twenty times until it’s so deep it’s not even visible anymore.

Brace yourself, is what I recommend. Mouahahahaha.

Yael’s characterization is exceptional. This isn’t news, as she was pretty strong and impressive in the first book also, but she’s more in touch with her emotions here. She has more control over them.

I’ve become less and less attached to YA couples. Maybe because of the amount of books I read or because I have too many ships in place now and no space for new ones. YET, Luka won me over.

There’s something about forfeiting the car wheel of our future to be with the one we love that I find extremely reckless, yes, but so incredibly romantic, also. Normally I would raise my eyebrows like what the hell is wrong with you, but Yael can’t do this alone. And she needs people to keep her grounded, in order to not turn into a piñata killing machine.

(Now I can’t stop imagining a piñata killing other piñatas with bonbons.)

I’m so impatient for Ryan Graudin’s next book. It’s amazing what she can do with words. If someone else had written this story, I’m one hundred percent sure I wouldn’t have found it this interesting, seeing that historical fiction was never my go-to genre, and one of my favourite things about this series is the writing style itself.

If you haven’t started this series already, go, go, go! I’ll race you to the bookstore. Need to pick up something light after this. Oh, my heart.
